BIO
Catalin Marin is a composer for film, television and giant-screen productions, with credits spanning feature documentaries, drama, thrillers, romantic comedies, animation and large-format cinema.
His recent work includes the IMAX / Giant Screen feature documentary Secrets of Great Salt Lake, the historical feature documentary From the Ashes of War, and numerous television films released by Hallmark, Lifetime, Netflix, HBO and Super Channel. He also composed the score for Season 1 of National Geographic’s Lost Cities with Albert Lin and two specials from the acclaimed archaeology series Time Team.
Drawing on a strong orchestral foundation alongside contemporary electronics, detailed sound design and world-music influences, Catalin creates scores that are cinematic, emotionally precise and closely shaped around story — from intimate character-driven material to expansive documentary and large-format storytelling.
His work has received two Canadian Screen Award nominations and two SOCAN Awards. Most recently, his score for Secrets of Great Salt Lake was officially submitted by SK Films for Best Original Score consideration at the 2026 Giant Screen Cinema Association Achievement Awards.
